The FIA has announced that Mohammed Ben Sulayem will carry out a second term as the governing body's president following a general assembly vote.
Ben Sulayem ran unopposed in this year's FIA presidential election race despite a handful of parties initially declaring their candidacy.
However, the interested candidates were unable to put together a complete list of vice presidents, leaving their bids void.
Every candidate must name one person from all the FIA global regions, but only one South American is on the official list - Fabianna Ecclestone, who is already part of Ben Sulayem's team.
It left Ben Sulayem with no direct rival for the FIA presidency and his re-election was formalised on December 12 in Uzbekistan.
The Emirati will now serve another four-year term, having originally taken over the position from Jean Todt in late 2021.
A statement from the FIA read: “Following a vote of the General Assembly in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, Mohammed Ben Sulayem has been re-elected as President of the FIA for his second four-year term, alongside Deputy President for Sport Malcolm Wilson OBE, Deputy President for Automobile Mobility and Tourism Tim Shearman and Senate President Carmelo Sanz de Barros.
“Members have also elected the new World Council for Automobile Mobility and Tourism and World Motor Sport Council, who will serve until the 2029 General Assembly elections.”
