Ferrari has issued a statement addressing the future of team principal Fred Vasseur amid a challenging on-track period for the Italian squad.
Ferrari entered the current season hoping to pose a challenge for the world championship, having narrowly missed out on a constructors’ title last year.
However, the team has not yet been able to take to the top step of the podium, while Leclerc’s new-for-2025 team-mate Lewis Hamilton has not finished inside the top three in a grand prix all year.
Despite penning a multi-year extension earlier this year, Vasseur's future remained the subject of much scrutiny.
Former Red Bull boss Christian Horner has been linked with a switch to Red Bull in recent weeks, speculation that Hamilton labelled a “distraction”.
But Ferrari chairman John Elkann put the rumours to bed in a new message of support for Vasseur.
“I want to express our full confidence in our Team Principal, Fred Vasseur, and in the work he is carrying out together with all our colleagues at Scuderia Ferrari — the mechanics, engineers, and drivers competing this weekend in Austin,” Elkann said.
“I also want to reaffirm the importance of teamwork by everyone to maintain focus on the only goal that matters: always giving our very best on the track.”
Ferrari is currently enduring a period of title drought, having last tasted championship success in 2008 when it last placed its hands on the constructors' trophy.
