Fernando Alonso has opened up on the effects of the vibrations he is experiencing from the new Aston Martin car.
The Silverstone-based squad has endured a poor start to the new campaign as it enters the season-opening round from Australia with limited mileage.
It has emerged that the Honda engine is causing significant vibrations in the car and creating a highly uncomfortable situation for the drivers.
Adrian Newey has revealed that the problems are so severe that prolonged stints on the track will risk permanent nerve damage for the drivers.
Adding weight to the situation, Alonso told media including RacingNews365: “For us, it's just vibrating everything.
“But it's not only for us. The car is struggling a little bit, so that's why we have some issues, some reliability problems that made our days slightly short.
“The vibrations coming from the engine are hurting, a little bit, the components on the car.
“To the drivers, we feel them. We feel our body with this frequency. The vibrations, you feel after 20 or 25 minutes, a little bit numb, on your hands or your feet.”
It is not the first time that Alonso has experienced a difficult situation with Honda, as the Japanese manufacturer's return to F1 in 2015 was overshadowed by poor reliability.
However, Alonso has backed Honda to implement fixes to its current limitations in the near future.
“It has been a challenge - but every day in Sakura, they try to find solutions,” he said.
“Since Bahrain, there were a couple of tests done and some of the solutions are implemented on the car now, so curious to see what tomorrow if we can improve.”
