F1 is set to discuss making grands prix mandatory two-stop races, according to a report.
In recent times, strategic variance in grands prix has fallen, with teams often opting for a straightforward one-stop strategy.
Steps have been taken to try and solve this growing problem, such as the pit-lane speed limit being increased at a number of races, but Motorsport Italy has now reported that further action could be taken.
It is claimed that the F1 Commission is set to discuss the potential of making grands prix mandatory two-stop races, with drivers forced to use each of the three dry compound of tyres, with the potential of each set of tyres being used for no more than 45% of a race distance one potential caveat.
F1 mandated a two-stop strategy for the Monaco GP in 2025 in response to the 2024 race where the entire field swapped tyres under the first lap red flag, leading to only a handful of in-race stops, whilst the 2023 Qatar GP was stint-lengthened, owing to safety concerns about the integrity of the tyres.
