Sergio Perez set the pace for Red Bull Racing ahead of the only practice before the Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying hour.
The Mexican driver finished just four thousandths of a second ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who had the same margin over the second Red Bull of Max Verstappen in third.
Carlos Sainz's Ferrari was right behind on the timesheets, just one tenth of a second away from Perez's pace.
The Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell completed the top six.
