Nyck de Vries will replace George Russell in FP1 for the Mexican Grand Prix as part of the rookie driver rules for 2022. Teams must reserve two FP1 sessions for a young driver that has two or less starts, with De Vries' run at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez being the final for Mercedes having ran at the French Grand Prix earlier this year. It is also the fourth FP1 appearance for the Dutchman, having completed practice sessions for Williams and Aston Martin. Following his race debut with Williams at Monza filling in for an ill Alex Albon, De Vries was named alongside Yuki Tsunoda as a 2023 AlphaTauri driver. F2 racer Liam Lawson is replacing Yuki Tsunoda at the team this weekend, as part of AlphaTauri's FP1 rookie session.
