Formula 1 fans have disagreed with 1997 F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve that the sport requires a new points system.

The Canadian believes all drivers who finish should receive points, although 38.1% of people who voted in a RacingNews365 poll believe no change is required.

Keeping the points system the same was the clear winner in the poll, although Villeneuve's request did collect 28.3% of the votes.

The current points system has been used since the 2010 F1 season, although a small change has been made for 2025.

Starting in the upcoming campaign, the fastest lap bonus point which was introduced in 2019 has been axed.

Prior to the top 10 receiving points, the top eight drivers claimed points from 2003-2009 whilst only the top six won points from 1960-2002.

Check out the poll results below!
