Christian Horner has stated he would only be interested in returning to F1 if it were with a team he believes can be successful.
Horner held the team principal role at Red Bull for 20 years before being ousted from the position shortly after the British Grand Prix last year.
Horner has been linked with a comeback ever since, with his name associated with several teams on the grid.
More recently, the 52-year-old has been rumoured for a tie-up with Alpine after executive advisor Flavio Briatore confirmed he has held talks with Horner.
Horner has highlighted that he would not take on the duties of a team principal once again as he seeks to become a team co-owner.
“I’ve done my shift,” Horner told Today Show Australia.
“For me, if I were to come back, it would be in a slightly different role for the one that I performed over the last 21 years or so.
“We’ll see. The interest in the sport is sky high. There are some fantastic people that want to invest in F1.”
However, Horner is pursuing the situation with delicacy, as he insists he will not simply agree to any situation that arises for him.
Having played a key role in one of the sport's most successful teams, Horner highlighted he wants to continue to be a part of a squad that has a vision to be triumphant.
“I’m in no rush,” he said. “If my career stops at the end of my time at Red Bull, I’ve had an incredible run.
“I’d only come back for something that was genuinely exciting and and something that could ultimately win.”
