The parent company of the Aston Martin F1 team, Aston Martin Lagonda, has launched a High Court appeal over an ongoing trademark dispute.
Lodged on April 13th in the Chancery Appeals Division of London's High Court, the case concerns a dispute with Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd, stretching back to 2022.
On August 12th, 2022, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd attempted to register a trademark of a logo and brand design, but Aston Martin Lagonda opposed this on January 27th, 2023, arguing that the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd design infringed on the copyright of the Aston Martin wings.
A hearing then took place on September 10th, 2025 with lawyers for Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd arguing that plenty of other brands use wing designs for their logos, including Bentley and Mini.
Ultimately, Aston Martin Lagonda's case was thrown out, and it was made to pay Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd a sum of £2,200.
This verdict was handed down on March 16th, 2026, with Aston Martin Lagonda entitled to an appeal.
This has now happened, with the case being lodged in the High Court.
An Aston Martin Lagonda spokesperson, when approached by RacingNews365, declined to comment but did offer a short statement.
"Aston Martin Lagonda does not comment on ongoing legal proceedings," it began.
"Protecting our brand and intellectual property is a priority for the company, and we will continue to take appropriate steps to safeguard our trade marks in relevant markets."
RacingNews365 has also reached out for comment from legal firms representing both Aston Martin Lagonda and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd.
