Williams F1 test and development driver Victor Martins is looking for a move to Formula E for the introduction of Gen4 next season.
The Frenchman, currently racing for Alpine in the World Endurance Championship, has been a regular figure over the years in various Formula E rookie tests and rookie practice sessions.
He has a strong relationship with Nissan, the only Formula E team he has driven for. His most recent test came last month in Madrid, where he set the fourth-quickest time in the afternoon rookie test session.
Martins has been strong in every Formula E test he has driven, with many believing he would be an exceptional addition to the grid.
According to The Race, the three-time Formula 2 race winner is an option for Nissan next season to partner reigning world champion Oliver Rowland.
The arrival of Gen4 next season, officially launched on Tuesday at Circuit Paul Ricard, is expected to attract more current or former F2 drivers due to the performance and design of the car.
Martins wants to complete a switch to the all-electric championship, with Gen4 being something the 24-year-old is eager to be part of.
Asked if he is looking for a seat on the Formula E grid for next season, Martins told RacingNews365 during an interview: "For sure, the goal is to see if there is a spot and if I can get an opportunity in Formula E for a full-time seat.
"It's a series that I'm looking at. Also, the new Gen4 is very exciting — when you see the car and pictures and videos, the power that the car has, the downforce, because it will be much more than now, and the tyres are changing; it's a completely new generation.
"And as a driver, having done mostly single-seaters in my career until this year, when you look at a car like this, you want to race it.
"So for sure, it's a championship that I'm looking at."
