Williams has confirmed it will undergo a name change from January next year ahead of the 2026 F1 season.

The Grove-based squad has been part of the sport since the late 1970s, founded by Frank Williams and has been run under various iterations while always featuring the Williams surname.

It has won nine constructors' championships, seven drivers' championships and 114 grands prix in almost 50 years as a team.

But having been known as Williams Racing since 2014, it will rebrand to Williams F1 Team in 2026, with Atlassian remaining as its title partner.

Williams will also use a new logo, inspired by Frank Williams' Forward W emblem, which was first used in 1977 and featured on all of its constructors' championship-winning cars.

“I am proud that from next year we will be known as Atlassian Williams F1 Team and carry a logo on our car inspired by our founder, Sir Frank Williams, and deeply connected with our decades of success,” said team principal James Vowles.

“As a team, we are inspired by our past but excited about our future, and committed to writing a new championship-winning chapter in Williams’ history.

“This evolved team identity reflects who we are, where we are going, and reintroduces our title-winning legacy to a growing F1 audience that was not following the sport when we were last dominant.”

Williams looks on course to finish fifth in the F1 standings this year, which would mark its highest result since the 2017 season.

The team will enter next season under a fresh set of technical regulations, with drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon in their second year of partnership.
