The Singapore Grand Prix is an outlier on the current Formula 1 calendar, as it is the only round of the 24 that Max Verstappen has so far failed to win at.
Heading to the Marina Bay Street Circuit on the back of two successive victories, the Dutchman is looking to keep revived but slim F1 drivers' championship hopes alive, trailing Oscar Piastri by 69 points with seven rounds to run.
However, given his inability to triumph in eight previous visits to Singapore, the Red Bull driver will be even more determined to beat the McLarens.
It will be a considerably difficult task, with the track situated in the Southeast Asian city-state much more likely to favour the MCL39s than the RB21s.
But Verstappen is a four-time F1 drivers' champion for a reason, and if anyone can outperform their car to pull off the improbable, it is him.
He has come close to victory in Singapore before, with two seconds and one third position, those results coming in 2018, 2024 and 2019, respectively.
Although his second place to Lando Norris last year saw him take the chequered flag almost 21 seconds behind the British driver.
Regardless, it was a significantly better showing than the first two years of the modern ground-effect era, when he finished seventh and fifth.
As such, it has been dubbed a 'bogey' circuit for the 67-time grand prix winner. But can he right the wrongs of yesteryear in 2025?
