The Alpine F1 team has confirmed that Franco Colapinto will remain with the Enstone-based squad in 2027.

Colapinto joined Alpine as a test and reserve driver in 2025, and just a handful of races into the campaign, he replaced Jack Doohan.

He scored his first points with the team in China earlier this year, before bagging a career-best sixth place at the Canadian Grand Prix.

The Argentine was heavily expected to be retained alongside Pierre Gasly next year, with Alpine now making the news official.

“I am very pleased to remain with this team in 2027,” Colapinto said.

“I feel very happy and very settled here and it's been even better that we have made significant progress this year compared to last.

“We have a lot more milestones to reach and I know the team is working so hard in finding performance and making the car better and better.

“Our long-term goals are obvious – to compete and win - and I am grateful to the team, Flavio [Briatore] and Steve [Nielsen], for the trust placed in me to be one of its drivers going into the future.

“I'm looking forward to seeing how everything plays out and focusing on my job on-track first and foremost.”

Colapinto's F1 break came in 2024 when he was handed a drive in place of Logan Sargeant, who was dropped by Williams midway through the campaign.

Alpine has enjoyed a strong surge in form this year after a challenging 2025 campaign and currently sit sixth in the constructors' standings.
