Video: Tsunoda’s road to F1 fitness

Formula 1 drivers go through incredible physical stress over the course of a race weekend, and the demands on the body require them to work to peak physical fitness. Here, Yuki Tsunoda’s performance coach at AlphaTauri talks about the challenges of getting a rookie ready for F1.

AlphaTauri F1 rookie Yuki Tsunoda was one of the standout drivers in his maiden Grand Prix in Bahrain last month, with the Japanese driver putting in a strong performance and finishing in the points.

The driver has won plaudits from across the spectrum for his showing in Bahrain, and looks set to make a big impact in this year’s Formula 1 season after stepping up from F2 at the end of 2020.

But moving into the top tier of open wheel motorsports comes with its challenges, and Tsunoda’s performance coach, Noel Carroll, has talked to Honda about how the Japanese rookie got in shape for F1.
