Fernando Alonso dazzles in insane chrome-plated hypercar

The Bugatti Veyron has long been regarded as one of the most extraordinary hypercars ever built.

Between 2005 and 2015, Bugatti built exactly 450, comprising 300 coupes and 150 convertibles. Even fewer were produced for certain versions: think of the porcelain-finished L’Or Blanc, or the Grand Sport Vitesse world record car, limited to just eight.

Two-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso has now joined the rare Bugatti Veyron owners club.

Alonso’s model is reportedly a Grand Sport with a chrome-plated aluminum body, said to be a specific request from the previous owner. That detail would make the car one of the most expensive Veyrons ever. As for the power under the hood? 1,200hp!

For Alonso, this is by no means his first foray into the world of rare supercars. In the current calendar year alone, he has made headlines several times with exotic acquisitions. Take, for example, this Mercedes AMG CLK or this Pagani Zonda 760 Roadster Diamante Verde!

On the auction market, a standard Veyron typically sells for between $1.2 million and $2.2 million, while rarer versions such as the Super Sport or Grand Sport Vitesse can fetch over $2.5 million.

Understandably, it has not been disclosed how much Alonso has paid for his.
