The final race of the Formula Regional European Championship has ended in drama as the two leading PREMAs collided.
Pole-sitter Dino Beganovic, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, came under pressure from David Vidales into the second chicane in the closing stages of an incident-filled race at Monza.
Vidales was run out of room through the apex of the chicane, with both drivers having to back out of making the corner to use the escape area.
While both drivers kept the throttle down, it was Vidales who got unlucky as he rejoined. Going full speed over the sausage kerbing, the front of his car took off and flew through the air. Powerless to control the car, he collected his teammate and both were knocked out on the sport.
Isack Hadjar inherited the lead as a result and won the race to close out the season.
Both Beganovic and Vidales were uninjured in the crash.
