Former Williams F1 junior Zak O'Sullivan will race full-time in Formula E next season after Envision confirmed the British driver as its newest addition to the grid.

The 21-year-old steps up to a race seat having spent the past year embedded within the team, taking on simulator duties alongside a string of rookie outings. O'Sullivan's first taste of the Gen3 Evo came at the Jeddah E-Prix in Season 11, when he made his Formula E bow during the rookie free practice session.

He has since been given further outings, driving in Berlin last year, while appearances in Miami and Madrid came in 2026. He topped the timesheets during the rookie session in Miami.

O'Sullivan arrives with a CV that already carries plenty of silverware. After a string of karting wins, he moved into single-seaters and narrowly missed out on the 2020 British Formula 4 title before claiming the GB3 Championship the following year.

Two seasons in Formula 3 followed, yielding four victories and the runner-up spot in the 2023 standings, before a step up to Formula 2 in 2024 brought wins in Monaco and at Spa-Francorchamps. Due to a lack of funding, he left F2 in September that year.

He has since added Japanese Super Formula to his résumé, broadening a record that already points to speed, adaptability and a habit of winning across categories.

"We are very happy to announce Zak as a full-time driver for Season 13 and beyond," said Envision team boss Sylvain Filippi.

"We’ve spent a lot of time with him during Season 12, and he has established himself in the team very well.

"We have been very impressed with Zak’s performance, both on the track during the rookie sessions, and his commitment off-track. We are very much looking forward to seeing him race in our car and embarking on his rookie season in Formula E with us."

Zak O'Sullivan eager to put Formula E learnings into practice

The announcement of O'Sullivan's promotion to a race seat falls exactly 24 hours after Envision confirmed the signing of Maximilian Günther.

It represents an entirely new pairing for the team for the start of the Gen4 era, with O'Sullivan eager to put what he learnt on the sidelines into practice.

"I am very excited to be joining the team full-time for the upcoming season," O'Sullivan said.

"I've spent the last year embedding myself into the team and can't wait to get the season started in the new Gen4 car.

"Formula E is a championship I've had my sights set on for a long time, so to be joining the grid for Season 13 at such an exciting time for the sport is a great feeling."
