Vettel hints at name for new F1 challenger

With his well-known tradition for naming his F1 cars, Sebastian Vettel has already been questioned on the moniker for Aston Martin's 2022 challenger.

Sebastian Vettel has given a hint at what he might choose to call his new F1 car. The German is known for his tradition of naming each of his vehicles , with the trend having started at the beginning of his Formula 1 career with Red Bull. It continued during his stint with Ferrari, and now remains as Vettel moves into his second year with Aston Martin. When R acingNews365.com asked whether he had selected a name at the team's launch of their 2022 challenger, Vettel admitted that he has yet to settle on a moniker. "[I hadn't thought of a name] before I woke up today, but I've been asked so many times already today that I'm starting to think of a couple of names," the four-time World Champion smiled. "But [I] haven't made up my mind, and usually I don't do it on my own. I do it together with mechanics."

Will the 2022 Aston Martin car have a Bond theme?

For his debut season with Aston Martin in 2021, Vettel named his car Honey Ryder. This was a reference to the Bond girl played by Ursula Andress in the 1962 film Dr. No , in a nod to the British outfit's links to the James Bond franchise. Will the 2022 challenger also have a Bond-related theme? "Last year, we came up with Honey Ryder because it [was] the first Aston Martin [F1 car], the first for me, the first Bond girl," Vettel said. "I don't know, it doesn't necessarily have to be a Bond girl, but I'm sure we'll come up with something." Aston Martin are one of the first F1 teams to launch their new car, the AMR22. Red Bull have also unveiled their 2022 challenger .
