Verstappen receives backing for 'billion-pound' Aston Martin move

RacingNews365's recent poll on Max Verstappen to Aston Martin came with a strong result.

F1 fans would like to see Max Verstappen move to Aston Martin in the future, according to the results of a RacingNews365 poll.

The Dutchman is under contract at Red Bull until 2028, but Aston owner Lawrence Stroll is a keen admirer of the four-time world champion, and recently lured Adrian Newey to Silverstone from Milton Keynes.

Stroll has also heavily-invested in a state-of-the-art factory as the team also prepares to become works status from 2026 when it partners with Honda - whose power unit Verstappen used to win his first title in 2021.

The team denied reports in January that it was preparing a billion-pound offer to Verstappen, insisting it was happy with driver pairing Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, but there is uncertainty around his Red Bull future.

Red Bull is producing its own in-house power unit for the first time in 2026, which coupled with the big chassis regulation changes, could prove a problem for a team undergoing change in senior positions after the likes of chief technical officer Newey and sporting director Jonathan Wheatley quit.

In a recent poll carried out by RacingNews365, fans were offered various options for Verstappen to Aston Martin, with the winner coming out as he should make the move, with just under 40% of votes for this option.

It should therefore be pointed out that it did not receive a majority of the total number of votes cast.
