Toto Wolff has labelled Austrian Grand Prix winner George Russell as "cold-blooded" after "perfect execution" of the race.

From pole position, Russell led 57 of the 71 laps as he banked a second victory of the season, after the Australian Grand Prix.

In doing so, he trimmed Kimi Antonelli's points lead down to 40 after the Italian finished in third place, with Russell's victory coming after a sketchy run of form and loss in confidence.

Reflecting on the Briton's seventh grand prix victory, Wolff was full of praise for Russell's management and execution.

"It was very good since qualifying, it was perfect execution," Wolff told Sky Sports F1.

"He was quick, managed the tyres well, was cold-blooded, and I am really happy for him.

"He knows that he can drive fast, and sometimes you just have to put one and one together, and maybe ease off on yourself a bit, and just drive.

"It is never good when racing drivers think too much. They're really good at driving, but the thinking part, leave it to the people in the garage.

"Less thinking is better. Because we said the best race is the quickest race. Make sure you are not killing the rears, but we are doing this by pushing the front, and that's what he did.

"Not thinking too much about strategy, not thinking too much about the gap behind, but just going out and extracting the maximum from the car, and that is what he did."
