Race control at the Nordschleife, which is holding the 24 Hours of Nurburgring Qualifiers Race 1, has confirmed that "several injured drivers" are being attended to after a massive crash at the German circuit.
Almost an hour after the red flag was brought out, it was confirmed that "rescue operations for several injured drivers are currently in full swing.
"We will provide an update from race control as soon as further information becomes available."
The race has been suspended for now, and the broadcast has temporarily gone off air. It is unclear if and when the race may resume.
RacingNews365 spoke with multiple engineers at the Nurburgring, and there is little expectation for racing to get back underway this evening.
RacingNews365 also understands that one driver has been taken to hospital by helicopter with pain in his back and neck.
The drivers of cars #27 and #992 are believed to be okay, with the former bruised from the crash.
Full information on the crash can be found [HERE].
UPDATE: Racing driver Jula Miettinen has tragically lost his life in the crash. The race will not resume.
