Ahead of the upcoming Berlin Formula E rookie test, Envision has confirmed that Alice Powell will be driving for the outfit, alongside Dries Vanthoor.

Powell has worked closely with the Silverstone-based outfit for many years as its test and development driver, whilst she previously completed two tests in the Gen2 era in Marrakesh and Valencia.

This will be her first official test in Gen3 machinery, although she has completed prior shakedowns.

Powell is a five-time W Series race winner and is the second confirmed female driver for the upcoming test, joining reigning F1 Academy champion Marta Garcia, who recently spoke exclusively to RacingNews365.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to take part in the rookie test day in Berlin,” said Powell.

“I’ve been working with the team for a long time and have completed a lot of simulator work over
the past few seasons, so to get the chance to have a full day in the GEN3 on track is going to be really useful for me, and hopefully also for the team.”

Envision excitement

Berlin is set to be an odd weekend for Envision as they are without their usual first-team drivers – Sebastian Buemi and Robin Frijns – in Berlin, due to the clash with the WEC Six Hours of Spa.

Paul Aron and Joel Eriksson will be racing for the team in Berlin, with Powell and Vanthoor completing the rookie test on the Monday after the E-Prix double-header.

“We are happy to have two very talented drivers step into our cars for the rookie test day," said Team Principal Sylvain Filippi.

"Dries and Alice have both achieved a lot in their careers, and we’re looking forward to seeing them out on track in Berlin.”
