Red Bull warned 'heads will roll' in scathing attack

Ralf Schumacher has claimed that "heads will roll" at Red Bull as its hopes of defending both F1 world championships continue to dwindle. 

Red Bull's season reached a crisis point at the Italian Grand Prix as Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez could only labour to sixth and eighth as the RB20's form continued to nosedive.

The team believe the long-standing issue it is facing has been identified, but that a quick fix is not possible with Verstappen now leading the drivers' by 62 points from Lando Norris whilst in the constructors', Red Bull's advantage is now just eight points, with Ferrari also lurking close behind.

Analysing the situation, six-time grand prix winner Schumacher hit out at Red Bull and claimed the team was "finished."

"Honest answer? This will no longer work out. For me, Red Bull is finished for now," he told Sky Germany.

"There is uncertainty and more heads will roll because of that uncertainty and because they are dissatisfied.

"Next, they have to start rebuilding first with new people and with the people who remain. Of course, they will come under enormous pressure from all sides.

"This is going to cause a chain reaction and these are all factors that are coming into play now, and Formula 1 moves too fast.

"I have rarely seen a team that has deteriorated so much during the season. I can't think of any other example.

"We will soon go to circuits with more downforce, which seemingly suits Red Bull better, but even there this problem will keep coming back."

Norris title favourite

Schumacher also declared that Norris and McLaren are favourites for the titles, and as the pressure builds on Red Bull, more mistakes will creep in. 

"That's how I see it yes," he confirmed when asked if Norris must now be considered as favourite for the world championship. 

"Also in the constructors' championship [McLaren are favourites], but also for third place it will be exciting because Mercedes and Ferrari on good weekends are in the mix. They will all take points away from Red Bull.

"Verstappen is far away from second place at the moment and you have to remember one thing. 

"The higher the pressure, the more mistakes they make. They made mistakes at the pit stop [with a slow rear right tyre change at Monza], after which Verstappen said: 'Please look out now, something is going on!'"
