Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies hailed the performance of the Milton Keynes-based squad over the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, where Max Verstappen clinched both pole positions and maximum points.
The Marina Bay Street Circuit has been somewhat of a bogey track for Verstappen, as it was the last remaining venue on the current F1 calendar — save the new Madring — he was yet to win at.
He did have four previous podiums in Singapore, including back-to-back second-place finishes over the past two years, but the Dutchman was relieved to finally triumph under the lights of F1's original night race.
It was a formidable performance from the now-73-time grand prix winner, but Mekies was also quick to herald the rest of his team.
"A very, very strongly executed race," the Red Bull boss told Sky Sports F1. "A big well done to the team.
"They always perform and execute extremely strongly. It may not have been that visible at the beginning of the year when the car had a little bit less pace, but they have been faultless this weekend."
Red Bull take consecutive wins on circuits with differing characteristics
Having struggled considerably at the start of the season, Red Bull has turned a corner in recent rounds, with Verstappen and Red Bull claiming their first victory of the campaign last weekend at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
Following up with sprint and grand prix victory in Singapore underlined the RB22's ability to win on contrasting profiles of circuits.
"Even more importantly, I’m thinking of all of our people in Milton Keynes that have extracted more performance out of the package – chassis side, PU side, in Ben’s [Hodgkinson] team, Pierre’s [Waché] team, in all our support functions, to all the clever minds that we have to extract lap time, and that’s what they have done," Mekies added.
"And today we are in a position to fight on quite a few different layouts, and it’s a great indication of the strength the team has in Milton Keynes."
