Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies has clarified a remark made on more than one occasion by Max Verstappen regarding his car.

Verstappen voiced over team radio at the Italian Grand Prix that the rear axle on his RB22 was "broken again", although there was naturally no failure as dramatic as that on his car.

Instead, it was more of a pointed reference to the feeling he was getting from the car, and an issue which has plagued it in terms of ride performance for a period of time.

Asked whether the team had unearthed anything after the weekend, speaking to Sky Sports F1, Mekies said: "We know there are a few parameters on this car that we are not happy with,

"Especially in terms of how they evolve through a session or a race, and that's what provokes the reduction in ride performance that Max is mentioning.

"So it is not an actual broken component, but it's a degradation of our performance.

"We know he has been complaining about that for quite a bit of time now. It's something on which we will try to find a more definite fix for the future."

RacingNews365 delved deeper into this topic and the concerns that have been hurting Verstappen.
