Porsche has announced its withdrawal from the World Endurance Championship as part of a "comprehensive realignment" of its racing activities.
The Bahrain season-finale of the WEC is to be Porsche's last entry with its Hypercar machine as it withdraws from the FIA world championship - but it is not giving up fully on endurance racing.
The Porsche 963 is set to continue racing in the IMSA sportscar championship in the United States, as well as in Formula E, where it won the 2024-25 teams' and manufacturers' titles.
In 2023-24, Pascal Wehrlein claimed the drivers' title in the electric racing series.
"We use motorsport as a development platform for future technology and to illustrate the potential of our sports cars," explained Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President, Porsche Motorsport.
"With the Porsche 963 in the North American IMSA series and the Porsche 99X Electric in the Formula E World Championship, we want to continue to fight for overall victories in the future, that is our tradition and our focus.
The decision means Porsche will no longer compete for overall victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours in the Hyperclass.
Porsche has a record 19 overall wins at Le Mans, the first coming in 1970, with the iconic 917 machine.
