Sergio Perez has confirmed he is talking with Red Bull to "reach an agreement" as his F1 career hangs by a thread.
The Mexican retired from the Abu Dhabi finale on the opening lap after contact with Valtteri Bottas having started 10th, with the result confirming a miserable season, with Red Bull set to meet on Monday to decide his future.
It is widely expected that Perez will be replaced following his dreadful season in which he scored just 48 points since the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in May.
He signed a new two-year contract ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix, but this is expected to be torn up given the fact that Perez's form contributed to Red Bull finishing third in the constructors' as Max Verstappen won the drivers' title.
Reflecting on the situation, Perez detailed that he did not know if it was his last race for the team, and in F1 for the time being with no 2025 seats available.
"I don't know yet," Perez told Viaplay when asked if it was his last race for Red Bull.
"I've got a contract for next year to drive, and we are talking with the team to try and reach an agreement.
"It will come down to the next few days to see what happens."
As for his race, Perez hinted that his engine was already damaged before the contact with Bottas that put him out.
"It was very unfortunate because every time I was shifting up, there was a slip of the clutch, and once I got hit and spun the car back, the whole gearbox was spinning up."
