Oscar Piastri has urged McLaren to prepare for Sunday's "voyage into the unknown" at the Miami Grand Prix, with significant wet weather expected.
The Australian had a mixed Saturday at the Miami International Autodrome, finishing second in the Sprint before qualifying a disappointing seventh for the grand prix.
However, with heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast, every driver is set to have an opportunity to capitalise on conditions yet to be experienced during a grand prix weekend.
Some drivers have tested the new cars in the wet, although the vast majority are entering race day having never driven in such conditions since the new power unit regulations were introduced.
Piastri suspects an "interesting day", with rain in Miami more often than not being very heavy due to the high humidity.
Asked if there is apprehension about a wet race day, Piastri told select media including RacingNews365: "It's going to be interesting one way or another.
"Yeah, we're going to have to do our homework, and we didn't have the power unit really do what we expected in the dry.
"So I really don't want that to happen in the rain. So we'll make sure we do our homework and be as prepared as we can.
"But it's obviously going to be a voyage into the unknown for everybody. And yeah, when it rains here, it normally is pretty torrential. So it could be an interesting day."
