Oscar Piastri has highlighted the biggest difference he has made over the last 12 months to become a leading contender for the world championship.
In their first two seasons partnered together, Piastri was often out-paced by more experienced team-mate Lando Norris.
However, the Australian has matched Norris this year with the qualifying head-to-head battle at a level 7-7 after the first 14 rounds.
Piastri has bagged six race wins to Norris' five so far this year, giving the former a narrow nine-point lead in the drivers' championship.
Comparing his 2025 campaign to his first two seasons in the sport, Piastri stated he has been able to extract more “good days” this year.
“Developing a little bit in a lot of areas,” Piastri told media including RacingNews365 when asked to describe what has changed over the last 12 months.
“Last year, I felt like I had some weekends that were very strong and felt like I had enough to win races on my good days.
“But there were a lot of average and sometimes bad days in between. This year has been full of a lot more good days.”
Piastri added there is no particular area he has solely focused on, insisting he has fashioned himself into an all-round stronger driver in an effort to win the championship.
“I have improved as a driver, but I think I've been able to get closer to what I think I'm capable of more often,” he said.
“That's been the biggest thing. It's not come from one specific area. It's come from looking at lots of different things.
“Being able to execute what I think is my best more and more often, that's been the difference.”
