Nico Rosberg has questioned Zak Brown's radio message to Oscar Piastri in the moments after the chequered flag in Abu Dhabi.
Piastri ended the race in second place and ahead of team-mate Norris - however, the latter's position was enough for Norris to seal his maiden title.
It left Piastri bitterly disappointed with what could have been as he was forced to accept defeat in the battle.
As he was being consoled by his race engineer over the team radio, Brown interrupted to deliver a message of his own.
Brown stated: "What a season, what a season. You're a star. Seven wins. We love you. We'll do it again next year. Thank you Oscar for everything you've done. What a year.
"Oscar, very proud of you. Awesome. What a team player. We go again next year. See you on the podium."
Rosberg has suggested Brown could have chosen to be more empathetic to his driver who missed out on a world championship success.
"That's his most horrible moment in his racing career,” Rosberg told Sky F1.
"Maybe Zak could have had a little more empathy there, rather than celebrating.
"He could have said 'next year will be your year', but it's difficult for Zak because he's so ecstatic at the same time."
