Zak Brown has claimed that McLaren has been "transparent" in revealing Lando Norris is subject to "repercussions" for his move on Oscar Piastri, despite the team refusing to reveal what they are.
Ahead of the United States GP, both Norris and Piastri revealed that the former had been held "accountable" for the incident in Singapore and would be subject to "repercussions" moving forward.
However, neither Norris nor Piastri would delve into what the repercussions were or how they would affect Norris's chance of overhauling the 22-point deficit to Piastri.
Fielding questions for the first time on the sanctions, Brown revealed to Sky Sports F1, that they were "marginal and probably wouldn't be noticed," but still avoided expanding on the details.
"It is marginal, it is consistent with what happened, which was a racing incident at the start of a grand prix on a track which was somewhat damp," he said.
"It wasn't intentional, so [the repercussions] are very marginal, and probably won't be noticed, but Lando and Oscar know what it is, which is what is most important, and of course, we want to be transparent with our fans.
When pushed about why, if the repercussions were so "marginal", why he would not continue his theme of being transparent, as with a number of other F1 subjects, by RacingNews365, Brown continued to remain tight-lipped.
"We are racing against nine other teams, and I don't think you want to necessarily show your hand on how you go motor racing," he explained.
"We try to be as transparent as possible, but there is a reason why engineering debriefs are only with teams, as otherwise you can start inviting other teams in.
"It is the best we can do. We try to be as transparent as possible in saying that some action has been taken, so I think that's been very transparent.
"But at the end of the day, we're at a sporting event, and we can't necessarily tell everyone everything.
"It is no different than our set-up sheets not being public."
