McLaren boss Andrea Stella has confirmed that the team's so-called Papaya Rules will not change despite having secured the constructors' championship in Singapore.
Lando Norris barged past Oscar Piastri at Turn 2 in Marina Bay to steal third place away from his title rival, with the three-four result enough to secure McLaren its main target for the season, in winning the constructors' title.
Immediately after the incident, Piastri was keen for the team to swap back positions, as he felt it had been a breach of the Papaya Rules in place, which can be shortened to 'don't hit your team-mate' - which is what Norris did, albeit lightly.
Now that the constructors' is secure, attention will now turn to the drivers' title with Piastri leading by 22 points with six races, including three Sprints remaining for a total of 174 points.
However, Stella has reiterated that Papaya Rules will stay in place as the drivers battle to be crowned McLaren's first champion since Lewis Hamilton in 2008.
"I can confirm that the win in the constructors' and the pursuit of the drivers' championship travel along independent tracks," Stella told media, including RacingNews365.
"Because the internal competition in terms of the drivers' championship is regulated by principles which we talk about, for instance, team interest.
"But it is the team's interest to also make sure we have fair racing between our two drivers, that they can pursue their aspirations, and that there is sportsmanship in the way we go racing.
"These are the guiding principles which will remain even if we have achieved the constructors' championship, and in reality, we get more and more of the fine-tuning by reviewing each event, even when things look like they were going perfectly.
"You always have a little bit to learn and review, and that is what we will do."
