Max Verstappen has been handed an overwhelming vote of confidence heading into the Sprint at the Singapore Grand Prix, where the Red Bull driver starts from pole.
Verstappen bested George Russell by just over a tenth of a second in the first, shorter grid-setting session at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, and is now expected to take his first victory under the lights of the Southeast Asian city-state.
It might not be the grand prix win — at least yet — he so desperately desires, but it will nonetheless mark the perfect start to the weekend in Singapore.
The four-time F1 drivers' champion has won at every other venue on the calendar, making Marina Bay the last mountain for the Dutchman to climb.
But before that hurdle, he must successfully navigate the 21-lap Sprint. Thankfully for the 29-year-old, over 68 per cent of those who voted in a recent poll by RacingNews365 believe he will prevail.
No other driver comes even remotely close to Verstappen's comfortable majority, with Russell — perhaps unsurprisingly — gaining the second most votes, with a six per cent share.
