Max Verstappen has called for Red Bull to review the issues he experienced during the Singapore Grand Prix to "understand" why his race became one of "surviving".
Verstappen made a poor start from the front row but managed to keep hold of second at the Marina Bay Circuit. He was the only driver in the top-seven to start on the softs, in an attempt to try something different.
Pole-sitter George Russell quickly built a comfortable advantage ahead of the Dutchman, who had to defend from Lando Norris for the vast majority of the race.
While Verstappen defended superbly to finish in second ahead of Norris, the four-time world champion experienced several issues with his RB21, Despite the problems, he is now 63 points behind Oscar Piastri.
During the race, the 28-year-old complained of downshifts, issues with braking and the car being unbalanced, something he wants to the team to look into ahead of the United States GP.
"Yeah, the track only just got dry and starting on the dirty side of the grid we just opted to try something different, because normally, if you just cross or pass Turn 1, you just stay there without anything crazy.
"So we tried, it didn't really work out. Then the first thing was always about just surviving on the tyres, trying to make it long enough to then pit for the hard tyre. I think that worked out.
"But, unfortunately, I think the whole race was quite difficult, more difficult than I hoped for, for a lot of different reasons. So, a few things that we need to understand why these things went wrong today.
"But even then around here, even if you have more pace, you can't pass without anything crazy happening. So I think second was then the maximum result."
