Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc found themselves alone on circuit on the second day of pre-season testing in Barcelona, with wet weather playing its part.
Ahead of the second of five days getting underway at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, several teams confirmed they would not run due to rain being expected for much of the day.
Local forecasts proved accurate, as rain began to fall halfway through the morning session, during which only Red Bull’s Verstappen and Ferrari’s Leclerc took to the circuit.
It marked Verstappen’s first running in the RB22 and Ferrari’s first action of the test so far, having sat out the opening day.
A red flag was required in the opening minutes after the four-time world champion slid into the gravel, before safely returning to the Red Bull garage.
Aside from that, Verstappen had completed 24 laps by 12:30 local time (CET), with his best known time being a 1:20.0 before the rain fell.
As for Leclerc, good mileage was completed despite the mixed conditions, with him having completed 45 laps in the same period as Verstappen, although his best time was a 1:20.8.
Rain is expected to continue throughout the afternoon, with the RacingNews365 liveblog aiming to keep you as up to date as possible.
