Max Verstappen is one of six drivers at risk of an F1 grid penalty, following several engine component changes for the Italian Grand Prix.
During first practice at Monza, it was confirmed by the FIA that Verstappen, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Alex Albon, Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto had been fitted with their final legal internal combustion engine (ICE), turbocharger (TC) and motor generator unit-heat (MGU-H).
In addition all of the named drivers, except Gasly, have also been fitted with their final legal motor generator-unit kinetic (MGU-H).
Each driver starts the season with four of each of the named components, but is handed a grid penalty once a fifth is fitted.
Verstappen has also moved onto his penultimate exhaust in that power unit component's pool, while Gasly, Ocon, Hulkenberg and Bortoleto have also received a new exhaust – each driver has eight exhausts in their pool.
It is not uncommon for new power unit components to be fitted ahead of the Italian GP, due to the time spent at full throttle during the weekend.
