Lucas di Grassi ended a four-year Formula E winless streak by claiming a shock victory in the second race of the Shanghai E-Prix double-header.
It represented not only di Grassi's first win since London 2022, but Lola's first in Formula E, with the Brazilian having started in last.
Rain fell consistently across the day ahead of the race at the Shanghai International Circuit, before stopping as the lights went out.
As a result, the retiring di Grassi and second-place Jean-Eric Vergne both gambled and went for a dry set-up.
It triggered a remarkable mid-race change as the circuit dried, with the pair having soared to the front.
Di Grassi had a late attack mode and took the lead on the first corner of the final lap, to extend his record as the oldest winner in Formula E. Vergne finished second, with rookie Joel Eriksson in third.
Pascal Wehrlein finished in fourth and took the lead of the drivers' championship as a result, as Mitch Evans failed to start at the Shanghai International Circuit.
Evans suffered an issue ahead of the race with his DC/DC inverter, a part supplied by the category. It has seen him fall nine points behind Wehrlein.
Envision's Sebastien Buemi completed the top five, while polesitter Felipe Drugovich had to settle for sixth.
Despite di Grassi's emotional win, the Brazilian and Vergne are both under investigation for not respecting yellow flags.
