McLaren heads into final practice for the 2025 F1 Japanese Grand Prix as favourites for pole position after a blistering turn of pace on Friday.

Both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri topped a practice session apiece on Friday at Suzuka with Isack Hadjar a surprise third for Racing Bulls in a heavily disrupted second session.

A total of four red flags were flown, wiping out almost 40 minutes of the session following a 185mph crash for Jack Doohan and Fernando Alonso spinning off. Two further red flags were shown for grass fires, something F1 and the FIA has taken precautionary steps over to avoid a repeat heading into FP3.

Meanwhile, Yuki Tsunoda did not complete a representative run in the messy FP2 session for Red Bull, as his team-mate Max Verstappen goes for a fourth straight Suzuka pole.
