Liam Lawson has revealed he will seek support this season from Formula E's Nick Cassidy, who he deems as "the best" in the all-electric category when it comes to energy management.
The new F1 regulations feature a 50/50 split between electrical power and internal combustion, with former being an area largely unknown by the championship.
One of the biggest challenges in the upcoming campaign for F1 drivers will be managing their energy and knowing when to use it. Those who understand this the quickest will likely have an early advantage.
After being DTM team-mates in 2021, Lawson and Cassidy have remained friends and saw each other over the winter break.
Following the opening two rounds, Cassidy leads the championship in Formula E after a podium and a victory, both as a result of an energy management masterclass.
In the all-electric series, Cassidy has a reputation of being exceptional when it comes to managing energy, with him often spending much of a race in the midfield before surging to the front late on.
Several Formula E drivers are currently working for various F1 teams in simulator roles to prepare for the new regulations, with Lawson eager to gain advice from Cassidy.
Asked if Cassidy has handed him some tips on energy management, Lawson told talkSPORT: "I mean, I think he's probably the best at it, honestly.
"I watched his race. I was in New Zealand still, playing golf, and we were watching the live stream of Mexico.
"And, yeah, he's obviously doing a really, really good job. And somebody that, over the years I've spoken to a lot, and I probably this year will be speak to a lot more, asking for advice."

It is a big season for Lawson having been retained by Racing Bulls, especially as he is now the team's elder driver following the promotion of teenager Arvid Lindblad.
For the New Zealander to warrant a return to Red Bull in the future, he will need to lead the sister outfit.
An adjusted livery for 2026 was introduced by Racing Bulls on Wed
Addressing the new livery, Lawson said: "Actually, it's the first time I've seen it. I probably could have seen it in renders, but, yeah, it's cool to see it in person.
"Obviously, very different factors we have this year. So excited to see what kind of performance it brings. Obviously, a very exciting partnership with Ford. Yeah, car looks fast. Hopefully it is fast."
