Lando Norris has been praised for how he bounced back from the "crazy decision" he made in the 2025 Canadian GP to win the F1 title.
In Montreal, in the closing laps, Norris was chasing team-mate Oscar Piastri for fourth position, with Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli also in catching distance for a podium just ahead in third.
As the trio crossed the line to start lap 67, Norris moved to left to try and grab the inside line for Turn 1, but misjudged the attempt and rammed into the back of Piastri, eliminating himself on the spot.
Norris immediately took responsibility after losing 12 points to Piastri in the title race, after a troubled start to the season in which his mental toughness was called into question.
However, in the closing stages of the season, Norris rallied to claim the title, by just two points from Max Verstappen, with Johnny Herbert praising the Briton for how he recovered from the Canadian nightmare.
"For me, Lando grew massively last season, and really did learn having to stop himself making, on the race-track, some crazy decision-making," Herbert explained on the Stay on Track podcast.
"Let's go to Canada when he crashed into the pit-wall trying to pass his team-mate, and those sort of incidents are something you should never, ever really get yourself into.
"So he'll learn from that, be stronger from that, and have we seen the best of Lando Norris? No, definitely not, I still think there is more to come.
"That world championship will be very powerful, personally for him and the energy he takes into the car, but he's still got to be wary of his team-mate, but you've also got to work out how best to make the tea work, because it didn't work, not at its best last year."
