Liam Lawson has delivered an insight into what has resulted in his uptick in performance at recent events.
Lawson endured a difficult start to the year with Red Bull and was demoted back to Racing Bulls after just two rounds alongside Max Verstappen.
However, he has enjoyed a more positive time since rejoining the sister team, scoring four point-scoring finishes at the last eight rounds - including a career-best run to fifth at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The New Zealander highlighted that getting more comfortable with minor factors inside the team has helped boost his results.
“It’s little set-up things,” Lawson told media including RacingNews365. “You learn over a season what things personally, as a driver, you like.
“Just simple things, like a car that's slightly more front-end, or a car that's slightly more stable.
“Even more than that, without going into too much detail, there's personal things, comfort things in the car, in terms of my position, in terms of the feedback I have through the steering wheel that has made me more comfortable, to give me more feeling of what's going on.
“Obviously, a new side of the garage for me this year and naturally, over time you build a relationship with a new engineer and a new side.
“That’s what we've done this year with early and the guys. It's been something that we just get more comfortable with every weekend.”
Despite the strong trend in performances, Lawson's F1 future beyond the current campaign is far from certain.
With Formula 2 rookies Arvid Lindblad and Alex Dunne being linked with drives at Racing Bulls next year, such a dramatic change would result in Lawson's exit from the team.
When asked if his positive performances have changed how people will view his season, Lawson replied: “It’s probably up to you guys to judge better than me - I don't really know.
“It’s not something I really look into too much. It’s a very busy schedule. We have a lot of time working on the car and preparing for these events.
“Especially these ones, these flyaways that are very unique. It's extra work, honestly. So outside of that, I haven't really paid too much attention.”
