Liam Lawson has stated Racing Bulls is chasing “ultimate pace” as it looks to end the current F1 campaign on a high.
The Red Bull sister team has enjoyed some positive results this year, including a run to third place at the Dutch Grand Prix for Lawson's team-mate Isack Hadjar.
Lawson captured his own career-best result two races later in Azerbaijan, where he crossed the finish line in fifth place.
The New Zealander highlighted the team is content with how its car can perform from track to track, insisting its primary focus is simply on extracting as much lap time as possible.
“Honestly, it's just ultimate speed,” Lawson told media including RacingNews365. “We are very consistent across the board at the moment.
“Baku was obviously a very good quali for us, but I think it was more down to the variables of the session that put us there.
“Compared to other teams that maybe are more inconsistent, sometimes they have really strong weekends where they're just very, very fast. Others, they're less fast.”
With four rounds remaining in the season, Racing Bulls is looking to hold onto sixth place in the standings, with just 12 points separating sixth to ninth.
However, with the gaps between the teams also razor-thin on the track, Lawson highlighted his faith in Racing Bulls to enjoy a strong end to the year.
“Ultimate pace is what we're trying to achieve,” he said. “I mean, if we can do that across the board in a consistent car, then we'll be in very, very good shape.
“That’s that's really it. But it's so small, the margins are so small that it's like a tiny bit of lap time that we’re chasing.”
