Lewis Hamilton reveals unbelievable Saudi Arabian GP target

Lewis Hamilton has just one target on his mind going into qualifying for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, and it is not a good one.

Lewis Hamilton has unbelievably revealed that he is currently hoping to avoid being eliminated before the top 10 shootout in qualifying for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The seven-time world champion endured a frustrating opening day at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, which saw him finish second practice P13 on the timesheets.

He was almost 1.2s adrift of pacesetter Lando Norris and almost eight-tenths slower than Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc.

Hamilton complained of "struggling to get the tyres working" and is conscious that overnight changes to his SF-25 from Friday into Saturday have often had a negative effect.

"Normally, Saturday it goes backwards. There's not a lot backwards for me to go from where I am," said Hamilton whilst laughing.

"We will make some improvements to the car. There are a few bits through the session that felt good, so we'll make some changes overnight. Hopefully tomorrow we can come back stronger."

Not for the first time this season, the 105-time race winner tried different settings to Leclerc, who has been the stronger of the two Ferrari drivers for much of the early rounds.

The Monegasque has often ended up with a better setting when his and Hamilton's cars enter parc fermé, with the Briton not ruling out taking his team-mates set-up.

"Possibly,” Hamilton replied when asked about looking to Leclerc's side of the garage. “We'll work together to see, because through both sessions we were trying different things across both cars to then converge.

"So wing settings and all sorts. So I'm hoping we'll have a better understanding after we analyse."

Confidence is not currently at a high for Hamilton in Jeddah, with his sole appearance on the podium at the venue having been his 2021 victory.

Based on his Friday difficulties, the 40-year-old has just one target going into qualifying.

"I don't know mate. For me, I'm just trying to see if I can get into the top 10 at the moment," Hamilton remarkably revealed.
