Lewis Hamilton has delivered a clear update on when he could retire from Formula 1, insisting that he has no intention to stop "anytime soon".

The seven-time world champion is approaching the end of his maiden season for Ferrari, and his 19th campaign in the pinnacle of motorsport.

It has been a difficult year for the 40-year-old, who is yet to clinch a podium since making the move from Mercedes to the Scuderia.

This season has been one of adjustment for Hamilton and understanding how to best work with Ferrari, given the major culture difference compared to Mercedes and McLaren – his former teams.

The new power unit regulations in 2026 have always been viewed as his best chance to return to the top of F1 and secure an unprecedented eighth drivers' title, something he continues to target.

A world championship for Ferrari in general remains his main ambition, with the Maranello-based outfit being without a title since sealing the 2008 constructors' crown.

Speaking to L'Equipe, Hamilton outlined a title for Ferrari remains his ambition, saying: "Yes, that's for sure. Because it hasn't happened for a long time, I don't even know how long they've been waiting...

"For Ferrari more than any team, this title would mean a lot. But I would really like to win the drivers' title as well."

Despite his age, Hamilton is not the oldest driver on the grid, an accolade held by Fernando Alonso at 43 years old.

Hamilton, like the Spaniard, does not have retirement in his sights, with the 105-time race winner committed to continue until his former McLaren partner is 50.

"I don't plan on stopping anytime soon ," insisted Hamilton. "I really appreciate Fernando continuing, because it means he's older than me. Yeah, I'm just going to keep going, until he's 50."
