Lando Norris was met by a wave of major boos after winning the Mexico City Grand Prix by a staggering 30 seconds.

The McLaren driver converted pole position into victory at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez with ease, following a tremendous launch off the line.

Norris was not overtaken into the first corner and quickly cruised into the distance, to secure his first win since the Hungarian Grand Prix.

However, as Norris was interviewed in the Foro Sol stadium after his stunning display, the Briton received significant boos from the crowd.

Asked how he was feeling, Norris said over a wave of boos: "I didn't hear a thing you said, but I love it. Thank you guys. What a race! I could just keep my eyes focused.

"I could just keep my eyes forward and then focus on what I was doing, a pretty straightforward race for me, which is just what I was after.

"So, good start, good launch, good first lap, and could go from there."

With Norris winning and Oscar Piastri finishing in fifth, the former has taken the lead over the F1 drivers' title by a point going into São Paulo.

It is the first time Norris has led the championship since the opening rounds, marking a significant moment in the title fight.

Discussing now being the title leader, Norris added: "It's one weekend at a time. So, I'm happy. I'm focused on myself.

"I keep my head down, I ignore all of this, and yeah, I keep to myself, and it's working at the minute. So I'm happy."
