2026 F1 Mexico City Grand Prix starting grid after Max Verstappen penalty and disqualification
Lewis Hamilton will start the Mexico City Grand Prix from pole position, the race which could crown Kimi Antonelli as Formula 1's youngest world champion.
Hamilton secured a first pole for Ferrari and a 105th of his F1 career following an exceptional lap at the end of qualifying, with George Russell joining him on the front row.
With an incredibly long run down to Turn 1, Charles Leclerc in third has an excellent starting position, while Antonelli starts fourth.
Max Verstappen lines up in fifth following a one-place grid penalty for an incident in second practice with Liam Lawson.
Lawson was also given the same punishment but starts from the back of the grid after being disqualified in qualifying after a technical infraction.
Reigning world champion Lando Norris is the top McLaren in sixth, with team-mate Oscar Piastri down in 12th after a disaster in the second part of qualifying.
There are also a significant grid penalty for Cadillac's under pressure Valtteri Bottas (50 places).
