F1 arrives at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for the Mexico City Grand Prix, with conditions set to put teams' cooling and aerodynamic set-ups to the test.
Sunshine is expected throughout, with air temperatures hovering around 25 degrees. But the stadium section and high altitude of the Mexican circuit mean conditions on track can feel considerably more demanding than the forecast suggests.
The sun index is expected to climb as high as 10, an extreme reading that will heat the asphalt rapidly once the field gets moving.
Partly as a result, track temperatures are forecast to rise to between 40 and 45 degrees by the time the lights go out, a range that typically accelerates tyre degradation and forces teams into earlier pit-stop windows.
A moderate north wind is also forecast across a circuit sitting more than 2,200 metres above sea level, where the thin air already reduces aerodynamic downforce and cools engines less efficiently than at sea level, so any crosswind component adds an extra layer of difficulty.
Drivers could notice the effects most keenly on the long back straight, where cars already run reduced wing levels to compensate for the low air density, and through the fast, sweeping corners where sudden gusts can unsettle the rear of the car mid-corner.
Teams will be monitoring the wind direction closely in the build-up to the race, with set-up choices around wing angle and cooling likely to be fine-tuned right up until late on.
The combination of high track temperatures and a gusting wind is expected to make tyre management and car balance through the stadium section in particular one of the defining factors of the 71-lap race
