Lando Norris unveiling a mirror ball-design crash helmet for the Miami Grand Prix sparked concerns about whether or not he was allowed to race with it.
With the special edition lid made with the stones from a disco ball, fans online highlighted some of the pit falls of the helmet, including added weight and safety issues.
However, the McLaren driver has confirmed he will actually be wearing a vinyl - or sticker - replica of the one-off at the Miami International Autodrome, in a video shared by the team's social media accounts.
Referring to the original as the "un-raceable version", the 25-year-old nonetheless maintained it was the "cooler, more real" product.
The new look is a tribute to the celebrations enjoyed by the five-time grand prix winner and the Woking team in Florida 12 months ago, when the British driver took his first victory in F1.
Norris has let his creative juices flow with past helmet designs for the round in the Sunshine State, previously using basketball and beach ball-themed lids there.
