Lance Stroll walked away from his post-session media duties for the second time since the F1 summer break after qualifying P19 for the Mexico City Grand Prix.

The Aston Martin driver endured a difficult grid-setting session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, as he did at Zandvoort, the last time he cut short his interview with written media in the pen.

In a back-and-forth with RacingNews365, the Canadian departed upon saying "maybe you should go ask them [the team]" when he was questioned on why his weekends in F1 have progressed backwards of late.

Explaining the situation prior to that interaction, Stroll said: "Generally, the car goes backwards throughout the weekend, so I am not surprised [to qualify P19]...

"I had no grip. It's kind of what happens a lot; there's good grip in the practice, and then you come into qualifying, and there's just no grip," he added, which prompted the question from RacingNews365.

The Silverstone-based squad has often shown strong form early in a grand prix weekend before seeing its pace fall off in qualifying.

In Mexico, Stroll sat out FP1 for Jak Crawford, but when he returned to his car for the second hour of running, he was tenth-quickest. In the third and final practice session, he was P13, which would have been fast enough to see him safely through to Q2.

It is an issue that has affected Stroll more than Fernando Alonso in the other AMR25.

Nonetheless, the 26-year-old has performed well relative to his team-mate this season. After 19 rounds, he has 32 points to the Spaniard's 37.

However, he has not scored in the past four rounds, and has often struggled in qualifying across the campaign, with 14 Q1 eliminations this year.

Qualifying for the Mexico City Grand Prix also marked the 31st consecutive time the three-time podium finisher has been out-qualified by Alonso.

RacingNews365: "Why is it going backwards during the weekend?"

Stroll: "I don't know. Maybe... I don't know. I don't have all the answers, but just generally is."

RacingNews365: "It's been like this consistently now for quite some time now."

Stroll: "Yep."

RacingNews365: "Why don't you have any answers yet? Surely the team must be giving you..."

Stroll [injects]: "No, maybe you should go ask them."
