Lance Stroll has highlighted a seldom-discussed area of weakness for the AMR26, with Aston Martin's battery and vibration issues having taken centre stage early in the campaign.
The Silverstone-based squad has endured a torrid start to the F1 season, with its 2026 challenger plagued by issues.
It was not until the recent Japanese Grand Prix that either Stroll or Fernando Alonso could complete a full, consecutive race distance, given the problem with vibrations in the cockpit.
Whilst the former retired at Suzuka due to a water pressure fault, the latter reached the chequered flag, albeit a lap down on winner Kimi Antonelli.
The package, however, remains uncompetitive and seconds off the leading pace with the Honda power unit down on outright power.
"Everyone's just working as hard as they can to improve the situation, for sure," Stroll told media, including RacingNews365, when asked how the mood within the team is.
"None of us are happy with where we are. It’s not the start to the season that we hoped for, but it is what it is, and we’re just working as hard as possible to improve it."
It is not just the power unit that needs considerable work; the chassis and aerodynamic platform of Adrian Newey's first Aston Martin F1 car also fall short of early expectations.
The legendary designer believes it has the potential to be the fifth-quickest package on the grid this year due to untapped potential.
Reflecting on the situation, Stroll pointed out an area that needs development, which has not seen as much of the spotlight: "We know we have issues on the engine side. There are areas we need to work on with the car.
"I think high-speed corners are still a weakness for us. So yeah, we’re just trying to improve in all areas that need work, and it’s just about bringing performance as quick as we can."
